Wines & canon
Yesterday had my regular gym workout at 7:30 am followed by a business breakfast meeting with 2 bankers from London and 1 from Hongkong who shared about the link between interest rates and currencies.
In the afternoon the canon of the Anglican church was introduced as a big shot. Ha ha very appropriate rite? I met with the tua pow later who told me dat the Methodists are called non-alcoholic Anglicans cause they dun take wine for HC.
On dat note I went for wine tasting at Raffles and here are some examples:
Bordeaux
Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1996
Premier Grand Cru Classe a Pauillac
Chateau Angelus 1995,
Premier Grand Cru Classe a Saint-Emilion
Burgundy
La Tache 1998
Monopole, Grand Cru, Domaine de la Romanee Conti
Rhone Valley from M. Chapoutier
Magnum of Ermitage Le Pavillon 1997.
So by now u noe its French wine. The 8th descendant, an attractive woman from the owner of Chateau Angelus ler Grand Cru Classe, Saint Emilion was at hand to describe the aromas of dee wines. Have u ever met someone with such an ancestry? Haha makes u feel historic. Here are some sample descriptions:
Fruity: raspberry, peach, lemon, fried fruit etc
Floral: Acacia, orange, faded rose, peony etc
Vegetal: verdure (glassy odor), thyme, truffle etc
Animal: leather, fur etc
Balsamic: wax, incense etc
Toasted: smoky, roasted, flint etc
Spicy: Pepper, parsley, clove etc
Pastry/candy: honey, cinnamon, butter etc
Olfactory intensity: closed, discreet, medium etc
Olfactory quality: disagreeable, ordinary, elegant etc.
Izzit amazing! So many ways to describe dee aromas of wines!
There were 8 different kinds of wine and as it's supposed to be tasting and not drinking haha was manageable. Den at t end we were offered Cuban Cohiba cigars worth $30 each!. Did I smoke or inhale? Ha ha I only smelled; quite fragrant the tobacco leaves. Okie 1 more education on cigars from a smoker (not me okie); if u inhale on a empty stomach u cud end up fainting. So dun try ke?
